Ms. Amir-Mokri’s practice focuses extensively on designing, negotiating and drafting employment and severance agreements, and other compensation arrangements for high-tier executives of public, tax-exempt, and private companies. She is experienced in designing, negotiating and drafting both complex and simple employment and severance agreements, including related stock option and other equity plans, retirement plans and other benefits provisions.
Ms. Amir-Mokri also works closely with Sonnenschein's Bankruptcy, Corporate and Insurance practices on benefits and compensation matters. She has extensive experience advising on benefits and compensation matters in mergers and acquisitions. She has significant experience in Chapter 11 reorganizations and also has handled compensation and benefits issues in the liquidation context, both under Chapter 11 and Chapter 7. Her work in bankruptcy compensation and benefits includes designing, negotiating, drafting and strategizing the implementation of executive employment, severance and retention agreements for executives of companies in Chapter 11; drafting pleadings and providing litigation support for evidentiary hearings related to compensation and benefits arrangements of Chapter 11 debtors; and advising clients on costs, savings and compliance issues associated with compensation and benefits arrangements in the Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 contexts.
Ms. Amir-Mokri also has successfully handled numerous regulatory matters, including U.S. Department of Labor investigations for clients, providing a variety of services to meet the client's particular needs. Prior to joining Sonnenschein, she was an auditor for the U.S. Department of Labor-Employee Benefits Security Administration, Chicago regional office, where she worked on civil cases and, with federal prosecutors, criminal cases.********************
